A car sometimes comes into our yard and makes everyone stop what they’re doing. It’s more than just a car. It has a presence. A person. And in this case, a sound.
You can hear it before you see it. A low, angry, gurgling sound that sounds like it came from a car three times its size. It makes a noise that is full of character, and it has a series of pops and crackles that make you smile.
This is not your average city car. This is the “Scorpion.”
The WA Auto Parts team is very excited to say that they have received a very special car to take apart: a 2014 Fiat 500 ABARTH in Nero Scorpione (Scorpion Black).
This isn’t a regular Fiat 500. This one would have made Karl Abarth proud. The factory-made “pocket rocket” is the little car with a big heart that really works when you push the “Sport” button.
As Perth’s top wrecker, we see hundreds of cars every day, but an Abarth is hard to find. This is a great place for Abarth owners to go for repairs and upgrades. This is the best chance ever for the average Fiat 500 owner: a full, real conversion is about to happen.
The “Brag Sheet”: This is what makes this Abarth stand out.
Let’s talk about what makes this car so great before we get into the parts. This is how to build one of the coolest cars ever.
Abarth (a brand that came from Fiat but is very different)
Type: 500 (Usually called 595, but it depends on the spec)
It’s 2014.
- Color: Nero Scorpione, or Scorpion Black
- Engine: 1.4L T-Jet Turbocharged 4-cylinder
- 5-speed manual transmission (the choice of car lovers!)
- Exhaust: Real Abarth Dual-Mode Sport Exhaust (the one that makes a lot of noise, yes!)
Sadly, this car was totaled in an accident, but it did keep its most valuable parts safe. We checked its heart, soul, and attitude, and now it’s ready for a new start.
The Goldmine: Performance Parts That Are Very Popular
Let’s get to the good stuff. This is why you came. We made a list of the “money” parts that will be going out the door.
1. The Scorpion’s Heart: The 1.4L T-Jet Turbo Conversion
This is it. The part that everyone wants.
The 1.4L T-Jet Turbo Engine: This engine is a powerful, tunable little giant. It’s what gives the Abarth its character. We have looked over and tested our engine, and it comes with a guarantee. It’s the best way to put a new engine in a worn-out Abarth or give a regular 500 a new heart.
The IHI RHF3 Turbocharger is a real turbo that has been checked for shaft play and is in great shape. It’s ready to give you the boost you can’t get enough of.
5-speed manual transmission: Take out the “DuaLogic” semi-auto that shakes. Real drivers use this gearbox. It is strong, reliable, and gives you complete control. We have everything you need to make the switch: the gearbox, the shifter linkage, the clutch assembly, and the pedal box.
We have everything you need, such as the ECU, harness, and intercoolers. The factory ECU (set up for boost), the entire wiring harness for the engine, and the two front-mount intercoolers with all of their pipes. This is a true “conversion in a box.”
Think about your quiet Fiat Pop 1.2L. Now imagine this entire 1.4L Turbo system in the engine compartment. You’d make the best “sleeper” car ever: a small car with a big, deadly bite.
2. The Abarth Exhaust System: The Sound of Feeling
The Abarth’s heart is its engine, and its voice is its exhaust. This car has a real Abarth sport exhaust with two modes. It’s pretty quiet when you don’t rev it up, but when you hit the “Sport” button or open the throttle, a valve opens and the car barks.
That “braaap” sound when you start it up cold is what makes you look like a jerk. It makes a fun, catchy “pop, pop, crackle” sound when you let off the gas. This isn’t just an exhaust; it also makes noise. It costs a lot of money to put in a new exhaust system in a factory. This is your chance to get the sound you want for a lot less.
3. The Cockpit: Where You Tame the Beast
The inside of an Abarth is just as cool as the outside.
Abarth Sport Seats: The black leather and alcantara seats in this car are very nice. These seats are not the flat “sit-on-top” seats that come with a regular 500. These seats have a lot of support and a high back that keeps you in place. They are the best balance of comfort and support for spirited driving.
This is how you connect to the road with the flat-bottom Abarth steering wheel. The “Scorpion” badge is in the middle of a flat-bottomed wheel with a thick leather wrap and thumb grips.
The Abarth Instrument Cluster and Boost Gauge has the Abarth-specific cluster and, most importantly, the TTC/Boost Gauge that is separate from the rest of the dashboard. One of the best things about the car is seeing the needle move into the red as the turbo starts to spin.
The little things that say “performance” are the alloy pedal covers and shift knobs.

4. The “Angry” Look: Real Abarth Body Panels
The Fiat 500 is “cute,” but the Abarth is mean. This is your chance to get the look.
The Abarth front bumper is the most important part. This isn’t just for looks; it works, with big intakes that bring air to the two intercoolers.
- The Abarth’s dual exhaust tips are perfectly framed by the deep rear bumper and the lower diffuser.
- Abarth Side Skirts: These skirts give the car a lower, more planted, and muscular look.
- This is the bigger, more aggressive spoiler on the roof that gives the “pocket rocket” shape its final touch.
- We have every Abarth badge. On the front is the “Scorpion,” on the side are the “Abarth” scripts, and on the back is the shield.
If you have a base model 500, this is the real body kit you’ve been looking for. And because it’s already in Nero Black, it might be the best color for your car.
5. The “Go-Kart” Stance: Wheels, Brakes, and How to Drive
It’s not enough to just go fast in a straight line; you also have to go fast around corners.
Abarth Suspension (Koni Shocks): This car has Koni FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) shocks and stiffer Abarth springs that came with it. This is what gives the car its “go-kart” handling.
Abarth brakes: The front and rear brake calipers and rotors are bigger and better (in Abarth Red). You need more stopping power if you want more horsepower.
Abarth made these 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels, which come in a “Claw” or “Petal” design. They are a lot better than the 15- or 16-inch wheels that come with a regular 500.
Why You Should Buy Real Abarth Parts from a Professional Wrecker
For performance cars, “genuine” is the only way to go.
These aren’t cheap, fiberglass copies; they’re one-of-a-kind and work really well. Abarth made these performance parts in a factory so that they would fit together perfectly. The fit, finish, and strength are all excellent.
The Ultimate Conversion: We have the whole car because we are professional wreckers. We can give you the whole conversion kit, which has all the nuts, bolts, sensors, and brackets you’ll need. You can’t buy small amounts of parts online.
If you want to keep your Abarth’s value, the best thing to do is use real used parts when you fix it yourself. It protects the car’s value and integrity, and it saves you thousands of dollars compared to buying a new car from a dealer.
Trust and Knowledge: You’re not buying from someone you don’t know. You are making a purchase from WA Auto Parts. You can call us and talk to a parts expert who can tell you what a “T-Jet” engine is. You can also be sure that the part you get has been tested and comes with a guarantee.
